A worn spot or hole in your tracksuit or favorite hoodie? This iron-on patch in mottled dark gray offers the perfect solution for stretchy fabrics!
Specifications:
The Sportswear Repair Cloth is an iron-on patch specially developed for repairing sportswear and jersey fabrics. It is stretchable in one direction, making it a perfect fit for elastic materials such as sports shirts, cycling clothing, running clothing and other stretchable fabrics. The cloth is ideal for repairing tears, holes and wear spots in sportswear without compromising the flexibility of the material. It retains its elasticity in the direction of the stretch so that your sportswear remains comfortable during movement.
Applying the Repair Cloth is easy:
1. Cut a piece of the repair cloth that is slightly larger than the area to be repaired.
2. Place the clothing to be repaired on a flat, heat-resistant surface.
3. Place the repair cloth with the adhesive side (glossy side) facing down on the area to be repaired.
4. Place a thin piece of cotton (e.g. a tea towel) over the repair cloth.
5. Preheat an iron to the cotton setting (about 150-165°C).
6. Press the iron firmly on the spot for 10-15 seconds without moving back and forth.
7. Allow the repair to cool completely before using or washing the clothing.
8. For extra durability, you can sew the edges together if necessary.
The repair cloth is stretchable in one direction, namely in the width direction (horizontally when you hold the cloth in front of you). This is specifically designed to ensure that your sportswear can still move with your body after repair. When applying it, it is important to let the stretch direction of the cloth coincide with the direction in which your garment stretches the most when worn. For example, for a sports shirt, this often means that the stretch direction of the cloth should be horizontal, so that it stretches when you move your arms. For cycling shorts, you would place the cloth so that the stretch direction follows the movement of your legs. By paying attention to this, your sportswear will remain comfortable and functional after the repair.
Yes, clothing repaired with our Sportswear Repair Cloth is washable. For best durability, we recommend washing the garment inside out at a maximum of 40°C and preferably in a washing bag. Avoid using bleach and do not wash the repaired items with clothing that has hard elements such as zippers or buttons. The repair can last dozens of washes if applied correctly. The lifespan also depends on the load on the garment and the location of the repair. For extra durability, especially for repairs in areas that are subject to a lot of stress, it can help to sew the edges of the patch with a few stitches after ironing. Please note: do not dry the repaired clothing in the dryer on a high temperature, but let it air dry or use a low temperature setting.
The stretchable Sportswear Repair Cloth is ideal for various types of damage to elastic fabrics:
• Small to medium tears in jersey material
• Holes in sportswear due to friction or wear
• Stretched or deformed areas in elastic sportswear
• Damaged seams in cycling shorts, running clothes or yoga clothes
• Thin areas in sportswear that are at risk of wearing out
• Small burn holes in synthetic sports materials
The cloth is less suitable for very large tears (greater than 3-4 cm) or for damage to non-stretch parts of sportswear such as reinforced zones. For optimum results, the cloth is most effective on synthetic fabrics and blends such as polyester, polyamide, elastane or lycra combinations that are often used in modern sportswear.
